Probability and Expectation

09/12/2013

I did mathematical statistic homework.

Now that I understand the relationship between probability and expectation.

For instance, if you flip a die once, the number will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.
Y is the number you get. Y is the random variable.
Since each probability of the number is 6,

So the expectation E(Y) is E(Y)= Σy*p(y)=(1+2+3+4+5+6)*1/6
=3.5

When I study econometrics, I don’t think about probability because I assume that an object is not random variable.

So, although this course is both undergraduate and master students, it is really nice class!

My goal is to “Use” Mathematical Statistic knowledge.
